Carbon Offsetting
With our continuing dependency on fossil fuels and its internationally recognised effect on climate change, there is growing interest in carbon offsetting and carbon trading in an attempt to meet CO2 emission targets.
Paying into a carbon offsetting fund to counterbalance our use of cars and commercial aviation may, in the opinion of some, do little more than appease the 'guilt' of continuing these practices in the absence of alternative and more environmentally benign fuel and energy options. We need to reduce carbon emissions directly, not just pollute the atmosphere and pay to offset our actions or consciences after the event.
Naturesave believes that carbon offsetting can be part of our mutual endeavours to meet the CO2 emission targets, and is a useful tool when used in conjunction with reducing emissions via energy efficiency. We believe that whether it relates to planting trees to offset CO2, funding renewable energy projects and/or companies that manufacture low carbon products, carbon offsetting is an important element in the drive to achieving sustainable development.
The Naturesave Policies office is 'Carbon Zero' and:
- uses recycled materials
- sources its energy from 'green' and ethical suppliers
- uses sustainable transport wherever possible.
Naturesave now also offers financial assistance to help our commercial and charity clients to offset their CO2 emissions, which, together with the Environmental Performance Review (EPR) encourages companies and organisations to become more sustainable in their trading practices and reduce their environmental impact.
