The Food Forest Project (The FFP) is an intersectional environmental charity that creates different types of community growing schemes to tackle food poverty and biodiversity loss.
In 2021, the FFP started a Food Bank Market Garden, a space where staff and volunteers grown organically grown food in harmony with nature, free for local food banks. Since then, the project has grown to include two schools with families suffering from food insecurity.
Most fo the FFP’s work is funded through grant schemes. This year they have been awarded a grant from Naturesave Trust to expand their growing space, creating more biodiversity and allowing us to grow more food for those that need it the most.
Peers Ranger, Head Teacher at St Ben’s Primary School says: “approaching 40% of our children live in relative poverty…funding from government and local government has dwindled. We feel very fortunate to be part of the Food Forest Project. It allows us a great opportunity to give our families fresh produce and also educate about the merits of organically grown food.”
