The Naturesave Trust funds a long term program to provide free sustainability advice to help SME's become more sustainable
Naturesave was founded to use the insurance industry as a vehicle for sustainable development. One of the key ways in which that aim is delivered is through the Environmental Performance Review Program, which has been running since 1996.
The EPR program is conducted in accordance with Bioregional’s 10 One Planet Living principals. Developed through practical experience and internationally recognised, this is a framework that helps organisations become more sustainable.
Bioregional is an entrepreneurial charity which has developed ten principles for One Planet Living. They use these principles to work with partners around the world – local councils and communities, businesses and developers – on a range of practical projects which demonstrate that sustainable living can be attractive and affordable. Bioregional’s ten principles were born out of planning and building the pioneering BedZED eco-village of 100 homes in Sutton, south London. Completed in 2002, it has become a world-renowned low carbon development. Find out more at www.bioregional.com.
In 2010 The Naturesave Trust adopted the One Planet Living framework for all Environmental Performance Reviews.
Since its launch, this campaign has helped over 150 business operate more sustainably. Many of these organisations have also reduced costs in the process.
Each EPR is delivered by a qualified sustainability consultant and Chartered Environmentalist and is followed by a detailed report which includes bespoke recommendations to operate more sustainably. The process uses the 10 One Planet Living principles created by environmental charity Bioregional. This provides a useful framework to structure the advice and gives the recipients the opportunity to benefit from joining the One Planet community.
The Environmental Performance Review program is available to Naturesave’s commercial combined insurance policyholders. Find out more here
