Non-standard Home Insurance
Is your home made from unusual materials or methods of construction?
Non-standard insurance is required for homes that are made from (what insurers consider) unusual materials or methods of construction.
Non-standard insurance is required for homes that are made from (what insurers consider) unusual materials or methods of construction. What they have in common is that they are unique, and as such require specialist insurance cover. Non-standard generally means homes that are not made from brick or stone and do not have a traditional tiled or slated roof. Instead these homes are more likely to have a corrugated metal roof and timber cladding or render. To most insurers such buildings potentially carry more risk in terms of repair or replacing parts of the property. This is due to the materials involved and, also because there is less historical data available to provide certainty.
