Sitopia Farm received a grant to provide 100s of kgs of quality organic vegetables and fruit through weekly discounted veg bags for those on low incomes, to community volunteers and to local food projects including Roots for Life, who work closely with those experiencing food insecurity. It also enabled over 10 free places to those on low incomes on food training courses. These empower people to grow their own food and tackle food insecurity in the longer term through training people in using organic, regenerative techniques for growing food.
“Life changing! An amazing and inspiring day with great people. Chloe and Sarah are a wealth of knowledge while also making you feel like you can grow yourself. I learned so much!” – Food growing course participant
“Sitopia Farm have been amazing providing Roots4Life and other food banks with surplus, organic vegetables across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Quite often at food banks the surplus food on offer is tinned or unhealthy so being able to provide people suffering with the costs of living with healthy organic produce is really important. Several of our service users are going through cancer treatment but can’t afford organic produce so being able to offer organic salad, cucumbers and tomatoes is a real treat for them. We need more Sitopia Farms fighting the cause of local produce and combatting climate change and transportation of imported vegetables as well as providing to its local community!” – Roots 4 Life
“With the absence of governmental tax breaks for organic producers, pesticide free food is more expensive not less expensive as it should be. Your discount makes an enormous difference to us. Without it we would be forced to purchase food from the supermarket that are full of pesticides, also we would not be able to support our local producer which is very important to us. Organic food has somehow become a luxury item, rather a common right, as it should be. So thank you so much for your hard work and help to allow us to get weekly organic fresh vegetables.” – Veg bag customer
“We are so grateful to Naturesave Trust for this generous grant. The food system we have is broken, and we are on a mission to change that in SE London and beyond. This grant has enabled us to directly provide quality organic, super fresh vegetables to those in need and empower many more people to grow their own”. Chloë Dunnett, Founder and Chief Growing Officer.
